MLB Circles the Wagons!

Well it really hit the fan this week with the start of spring training games.  The Astros are catching grief from all directions!  I really didn’t think the other players would be so upset about the whole mess, but based on the number of Astros hitters who were hit by pitches the first week, I was very wrong.

I also was amazed that some Astros players received death threats.  Then I remembered how much $$$ is bet on MLB games.  Gamblers are notorious poor losers.  I sure hope this blows over for the players sakes.

Furthermore it came out this week that Joe Torre (MLB special assistant to the commissioner) spoke with Astros and Red Sox reps in the fall of 2018 and warned them to cease their cheating ways.  If this is true, we are only going to see this problem get bigger and bigger.

I still maintain that this problem involves a lot more than two teams (the investigation of the Red Sox is ongoing).  But the reactions of several big name players (most notably Mike Trout who by the way is 50 different kinds of awesome) make me wonder if I am off base on this (see what I did there?).

Anywho, today’s good baseball read is “Giants of the Polo Grounds”.  The NY Giants in the early 20th century pulled some stunts that would get them sent to prison today!  Very entertaining book!

Today’s classic rock song is “Mendocino” by Sir Douglas Quintet.
