This year’s World Series may be history making if the Nats can win Game 7. No visiting team has EVER won every game of a World Series. If Washington SP Max Scherzer can pitch up to his usual standard tonight, another very long World Championship drought will be over (the franchise dates back to 1969 and has never won). As overrated and unlikeable as Washington SP Stephen Strasburg has been over the years, he saved the Nats last night. I think both teams would be worthy champs (although I would love to see Astro 3B Alex Bregman brought down a peg).
One negative coming out of this year’s series is the media’s unending banging of the drum for robot strike calling. This is NOT a good idea. The human interaction between umpires and players is an integral part of baseball. Media folks cried long and hard for replay reviews and look what happened. It slowed the games even more! Not only that, but the sports media is now hating on the whole concept!

By all means speed up the games, but never forget what makes baseball great.

The World Series delivered everything you could ask for. All seven games won by the road team. An underdog winner. And once again the wildcard team enters the postseason with momentum and goes all the way.
