World Series Awesome!

I hope baseball fans enjoyed the amazing seven game World Series!  EVERY game was won by the visiting team!  That has NEVER happened before.  As a baseball announcer whose name escapes me said many years ago “No matter how many games you see, there is always something you have never seen before”.  The World Series dates back to 1903 (although championship series were played in the late 1800s as well) and has been played every year since except for 1904 and 1994.

I do not really like today’s game as much as I would like to.  Too many strikeouts and WAY too slow pacing of games.  I wish I could feel the real connection with MLB I had when I was younger.  The 1981 strike ruined that for me and the 1994 strike made the feeling permanent.  I am mainly drawn to the stat part of baseball (I know!).  But every once in a while a player like Mike Trout comes along and I remember how great the game can be.

If you want to read a really interesting baseball book, I recommend “Koppett’s Concise History of Major League Baseball” by Leonard Koppett.  It helped me to understand where baseball came from and why it is what it is today.

Today’s classic rock song is “La Grange” by ZZ Top.
